Metal Improvement Company installs new shot peening capability at Toronto Facility

Brampton, Ontario, July 27, 2009, – Metal Improvement Company (MIC) has expanded the metal finishing capabilities at its MICAN facility in Brampton, Ontario, with the installation of computer monitored shot peening equipment. This equipment has the capability to process aircraft engine shafts to the demanding AMS-2432 and P11TF8 specifications.

The MICAN facility is Nadcap accredited, and AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2000 registered. It is approved by many aerospace and automotive OEMs for controlled shot peening (CSP) to AMS 2430, AMS 2430L and customer specifications. It holds multiple approvals and processes components from OEMs including AECL, Bell, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, General Dynamics, General Electric, General Motors, Goodrich, Heroux Devtek, L3, Com, Magna, Magellan, Messier-Dowty, Rolls-Royce, Spar, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Siemens.

The MICAN facility has been located in suburban Toronto since 1969, with 85,000 square feet to provide metal treatment services for critical components operating in aerospace, automotive, chemical processing, mining, power generation, and specialty industrial applications. Components with diverse materials, shapes and sizes, up to 82 feet long, are processed under rigidly controlled conditions.
